A
lady at Key Harbour tells the story of two fishermen in a John Bull who
spied a bear swimming between islands in Georgian Bay, near the mouth of
the Pickerel River. One of the men, who had a camera, kept urging the
other, who was operating the boat, to get closer and closer to the bear so
that it could be photographed at close range. As the Dippy drew up
alongside the bear, the animal proceeded to climb into the boat and the
astonished fishermen were obliged to jump overboard.
The John Bull continued merrily on its way with the bear at the helm.
